Groceries and the Ball Park

What do the grocery store and the Durham Bulls Athletic Park have in common?  Nothing really, except that members of the Dew clan did both this weekend.

I have set a Dew family goal to run at least one 5K race per month and that tradition continues with the July race:  Blue Points at the Ball Park 5K.  This is a fun race we did last year and repeated again this year.  It starts on the warning track of the ball park and travels along the American Tobacco Trail in Durham.  The whole family joined in the race with me pushing the double jogger.  Both Al and I had decent times and improved on our times from last year, but no prizes this year.  A couple post-race pictures:

Emerson completing some post-race stretches.

Now a trip to the grocery store isn't particularly interesting I know, but it WAS Emerson's first time sitting in the cart and not in the car seat!

Until the next Dew time . . .

Our Future Olympian

As the Olympics approach, the Dew family has seen snippets of various Olympic trials.  Little did we know that Ella intends to compete for USA Women's Gymnastics.  As you can see, the forward roll is already perfected.

Every evening when we get home, Ella asks to watch the girls "flip over."  We were considering dance and tumbling when she turned 3 and this really seems to solidify that plan!

In other news, the youngest Dew celebrated seven months with a photo shoot in the front yard:

Until next Dew time.

Racing and Relaxing

Busy week or so!   An in DEW time summary.

Sunday, June 24:  Al competed in his second sprint triathlon of the season and finished 58th overall.  I think he was a little disappointed in his run time, but he still did a great job.  I was too busy trying to maneuver a double stroller around the race course so that I wouldn't miss him which means, no pictures.  Sorry.

But, that afternoon I managed to get a few pictures of Emerson's first trip to the pool:

It was also the family's first trip to the new pool since moving.  It's nice to be able to walk to the pool.  Ella refers to it as "my pool":

Saturday, June 30:  The entire Dew clan put on race gear and headed for the Freedom Run 5k in Wake Forest.  Al pushed both girls and I just tried to survive in the terrible heat.  The race leaders made a wrong turn which actually caused the race to be 3.25 instead of 3.1 and that definitely made a difference!!!  Ella is happy to report that she beat Mommy with a time of 26:40 (Al and Emerson got the same time too).  I finished in 29:30.  In that heat, those were pretty good times.

Pre-Race.

And then the suffering began,

(Told you I was just trying to survive!)  :)

Wednesday, July 4th:  Happy Fourth of July! The Dew family headed to the community pool for the children's parade.  Ella decorated her motorcycle with red, white and blue balloons and flags.

Ella liked the parade but was much more interested in this:

Ice Cream!!!

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!
